Obasanjo Could Not Join NYSC Because Of Age

Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday, August 26, explained what had prevented him from joining the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The ex-leader of the country spoke at the meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun state, as he was decorated as grand patron of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Alumni Association. According to Vanguard, Chief Obasanjo confessed he would have loved to participate in the NYSC but could not.
“Somebody wrote me a letter when he got to know that I have graduated from NOUN, he wanted me to do national youth service, but unfortunately for him there is age limit.”

Obasanjo, who hosted guests at his residence, noted that the establishment of the NOUN posed a unique chance for people to massively access higher education in the country.
